    Dachte beim Überfliegen auf dem Handy erst an Fever Tree Mediterranean. Das Light Tonic habe ich noch nicht versucht, aber dafür reizt es mich, das Mediterranean nicht nur mit Vodka, sondern auch mal mit Gins durchzutesten. Ein Abendplan.

    Welcher Gin ist denn besonders "Killer" mit dem Fentimans Light Tonic? Einfach ein klassischer London Dry?

    Ja, klassisch London Dry scheint mir sehr gelungen. Durch den reduzierten Zucker bleibt deutlich mehr vom eigentlichen Gin über - sprich der Gin & tonic schmeckt "Kräftiger" ... das ist nicht unbedingt der unbedenkliche Montag Morgen Gin Tonic. Aber der Liebhaber dieses Mischgetränks findet hier durchaus eine Bereicherung im Geschmack. Old Raj (bei 55, % Vol nicht zuviel - wie gesagt der Geschmack "schlägt Durch", Tanqueray, Royal Dock Navy Strength und viele mehr... Ich habe es noch nciht mit allen geschätzten Gin Sorten getestet aber die Variante "klassisch London Dry" gefällt mir ehr gut!

    Hatte jetzt die Gelegenheit, es im Le Lion zu probieren. Einmal Old Raj 55 mit dem Light, einmal mit dem "normalen" Fentimans. Erstaunlich, wie viel Unterschied das Tonic hier macht, die Ergebnisse sind ja fast gegensätzlich im Geschmack. Das Light Tonic hat ja wenig Körper und lässt den Gin so viel mehr zur Geltung kommen, endet aber trotzdem mit einer feinen Chinin-Note. Sehr gute Sache.

    Leider finde ich das Fentimans Light in Hamburg grade nirgendwo für zuhause. Getränke Wolf haben es nicht und konnten noch keine Aussage zur Verfügbarkeit/Bestellbarkeit geben, Weinquelle hat zumindest im Web gar keine Tonics gelistet. Online bestellen möchte ich es nicht unbedingt, wenn es einen anderen Weg gibt. Für Tipps wäre ich dankbar.

I have to say:  in general, you are right!  People live more and more healthy. Awesome! They focus on exercising, work out a good balance, good and healthy food, taking care of themselves. It is big. Especially in the „younger“ generations. And yes. People drink less and less alcohol. One reason is for health. And then we also have the „hustler“. BLOOM GIN - Mein persönliches Ende des 47% Wacholder Gin Absolutismus.

Gestern Abend - " 50% Bonded Rye Nacht"  in Guten Löwen. Spät nach Mitternacht. Bartender kommen aus den Bars der Stadt für einen Night Cup. Stefan ruft an : "Mach gerade Feierabend und komme gleich rüber. Schon Beefeater 24 probiert?" "Nein" "Ok. bring ich mit..." Gesagt, getan. Kurze Zeit später: Aperitife Rye Cocktail "Red Hook". Dann Beefeater 24. Stefan ist schon seit Wochen voll auf begeistert. Ich kann nach kurzer Probe seine Begeisterung nicht ganz teilen. Kein schlechtes Produkt - aber in meinen Augen auch nicht mehr. Es fehlt irgend etwas, was diesen Gin einzigartig macht.  Wie schön, das Geschmack unterschiedlich ist. Ich schenke Ihm Bloom Gin ein, hatte mir Matthias Eikerling vor einigen Tagen zugeschickt. A discussion about woman in the bar industry

Last night I was part of a discussion on facebook. It took place at Christine Williams profil - find a link here:  https://www.facebook.com/christine.wil…/…/10221226072987813… I became quite emotional because the tone used in this discussion was very disrespectful. People called Charles Schumann "Prick" "Ashole" "Trash" and more. I felt to join in, as this made me angry. Charles Schumann is a friend of mine. I respected him for years. He did and does so many things for our industry. And supported many young, old, male, female bartenders in many ways like only a few of us did in the past. And he still continues to do so. In his daily actions and work Charles is always supporting women. But regarding the discussion, I like to set a few things straight: Charles sentence/quote „women should not work behind a bar beyond 3 pm" in that film and quotes given in interviews in this regards are misogynist.
