Are we the last generation meeting noble Waiters and Bartenders (and Queens) ?

The Queen is celebrating her Diamond Jubilee this days. Today I have listen to a radio show about her 60 years. They broadcasted  her 21th birthday speech from 1947 in south africa. And that made my skin crawl. The short essence:

To accomplish that we must give nothing less than the whole of ourselves. There is a motto which has been borne by many of my ancestors - a noble motto, "I serve". … I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service….

Wow. That's how I started apprenticeship as a waiter in a Hotel. And it was good to become remembered. And I am not sure, if I can promise this to the world still for the rest of my life. But I will try. Every night, to our customers.

It is definitely time for a healthy chilled bottle of Gin and a late night movie called "The Remains of the days". I will raise my glass to the queen, and all the great old Waiters and Bartenders who served their whole life. I miss you already gentleman.
